The ceremony took place in the Capitol City of Lusaka with Chief Chancellor Professor Clyde Rivers and Vice Chancellor Professor Donella Pitzl presenting and many of "Mama Vera's" (as she is known) friends and family in attendance. It was truly a great day for Zambia to see one of their beloved honored by an institution from America. Professor Pitzl said, "It was a day the observe the value of honor and how it elevates others to a better place. It brings a standard by which others can use in life to measure their actions. Good models of love and integrity are so needed in our world. Mama Vera has allowed her life to be an example of caring for others. She has used her skills and formed a philosophy to live by."
