Innovative Education Model Continues to Produce Evidence and Results

This year the Human Equity Value Institute (HEVIS), located in Trinidad and Tobago and an affiliate of United Graduate College and Seminary International, began its courses with another round of student participants. The students engaged in six months of studying the knowledge base tool of Human Equity Value (HEV) and graduated in May 2022.

Professor Glendon Rudder, founder and creator of the Human Equity Value philosophy and Institute stated, “Every class and every session was new and presented a uniqueness that was unlike the other. The students were highly involved and interactive in a major way as they literally added value to the course itself and to the content of the HEV Searcherdemic education model.”

Students learned the foundations of HEV, that Human Equity Value is the Recognition, Consideration, Protection and Procurement of Human Value and about each person’s Equity Entitlement. It is interesting to note that this was being done against the backdrop of certain issues taking place in the country's government in terms of their relations to society. As such, students of HEVIS were given an assignment to write a paper on a societal or national issue and their own solution. Students were then tasked with implementing the principle of Human Equity Value to the issue and to report on the results that it would bring. Papers were done on the economy, politics, government elections, child abuse and other topics affecting the society at large. Students surpassed expectations.

In one assignment, a student chose to write on the elections of the sister Island of the nation, which have been lobbying for more autonomy and even cessation as they felt that the central government in Trinidad was not doing enough. She applied HEV saying, "If Human Equity Value (HEV) was part of the Central Government's policies it will eliminate all the issues presented by the sister Isle." With the implementation of a HEV policy they will be afforded training needed to become profitable to ensure sustainability within the island.

Another HEVIS student stated, "Just over three years ago, the Company for which I worked, went through a major upheaval, in that persons were retrenched. The tenets of Human Equity Value (HEV) Recognition, Consideration, Protection and Procurement were totally ignored in the way management went about their actions. There was no recognition of persons' feelings and rights. Imagine persons were issued with retrenchment letters mere hours before the close of business; advising them not to report for work the next day...A friend of mine who was a supervisor and gave the company over thirty years of service, said he stood in the middle of the office and cried, when unknowingly, he came to work the next day and was locked out of the system. This is when he knew he was let go. Their actions completely destroyed any place value employees may have felt."

Student quote: Human Equity Value is also a symbiotic relationship between employee and employer.

Student quote: How one values that of another creates Human Equity Value (HEV). In addition to this, HEV puts the human value in focus, giving the other the equity deserved.

Student quote: In short, the implementation of Human Equity Value (HEV) as a public policy would go a long way in improving the industrial climate in the country.
